Gerald Dean Hard, 86, of Vienna, WV, passed away January 5, 2018, in Brookdale of Zanesville, following an extended illness.
He was born March 4, 1931, in Custer City, South Dakota, a son of the late Gerald K. and Margaret M. (Olson) Hard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, L. Geraldine Hard.
Gerald worked and lived in Minot, North Dakota and served in the Korean Conflict as a Marine. He then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska and worked for Civil Service with 25 years of service as Forman...

Gerald Dean Hard, 86, of Vienna, WV, passed away January 5, 2018, in Brookdale of Zanesville, following an extended illness.
He was born March 4, 1931, in Custer City, South Dakota, a son of the late Gerald K. and Margaret M. (Olson) Hard. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, L. Geraldine Hard.
Gerald worked and lived in Minot, North Dakota and served in the Korean Conflict as a Marine. He then moved to Fairbanks, Alaska and worked for Civil Service with 25 years of service as Forman at the military disposal yard on Richardson Highway.
Survivors include his sisters Marlene Erdman of Bottineau, North Dakota, Patsy Morris and her husband Oliver of Houston, Alaska; sister in law, Mae Combs of Vienna, WV; 17 nieces and nephews and 25 great nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m., Thursday, January 11, 2018 at Sunset Memorial Funeral Home, Parkersburg, WV. A procession will leave the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. for the committal service in Sunset Memory Gardens.
